Man-made Diamonds.

We’re all familiar with various information in relation to the diamonds. There are two sorts of them, in fact – the valuable stones and those that are used in various industries, in short – manufacturing ones. First ones are luxury, while the other ones you can find in about everybody’s toolbox in a garage – they are used for cutting glass, as a file abrasive material and so on and so forth.

While we talk diamonds, of course, we visualize precious stones first. The picture of a diamond (or a brilliant) appears virtually at once – in a gold ring, pendant or earrings. Now, the nature spent millions of years to create diamonds that we all admire… That is most likely one of the most enigmatic things concerning the diamonds as such (well, apart of their worth in terms of the money, naturally).

Until current times, natural diamonds were the only ones out there on the market – if you were going for a real precious stone ring or any other piece of jewelry with the precious stone, you had no choice actually. But, thanks to the technological improvements of the present era, you can now have the benefit of the freedom of choice with the diamonds as well (just like we had with the Black Titanium wedding band as opposed to the ordinary titanium).

That is right – at present mankind can create lab grown diamonds in the matter of days. Plus, that is even more amazing than the making time, these man-made diamonds are utterly the similar as their natural “counterparts”. Impressive, isn’t it? No more hunt for the stone for your budget all through dozens of jewelers, no more waiting till the stones appear in supply. There is, though, a caveat to the promise. The lab grown diamonds are produced with the use of the extremely high temperature and pressure. While man made precious stones, as those diamonds are known (short for laboratory grown diamonds) are chemically, physically and optically equal to natural diamonds at 100%, the colorless version – the one we are most accustomed to and seek, has its dimension restrictions. You are highly not likely to stumble on colorless labgrown diamonds that are larger than a one quarter of a carat. In all chance they will be even smaller…

The colorful ones are a another story. Their color varies, but the most famous one is vivid yellow or cognac – colored. Other colors started showing recently. Yellow precious stones are produced in bigger dimensions, and seeing them at sizings varying among 1.00 and 1.75 Carat is not uncommon. Still, the production is rather an costly procedure, so a quite little amount of specialized producers are in this business, as the original investments into the production technological part are considerably big. In comparison, however, to natural, mined, bright yellow precious stones they are a bargain when compared on an apple to apple basis…

One of the other names for man-made precious stones is ethical precious stones. By default, manufacturing of such diamonds is ethical, as it is not associated to any wars or human casualties (unlike the natural blood-diamonds that cost thousand of individuals lives in Africa). So, with deciding on such laboratory-grown diamonds for your jewelry not just lets you save, but in addition helps to save real individuals lives by boycotting the blood-diamonds distribution.

Certain jewelry design studios even take an additional pace – with the sale of every “ethical” diamond, they contribute money to clean up land mine fields (the terrifying echo of wars indeed) in Africa. Such type of activity is done through the international organizations, so the consumers of Igloo diamonds, for instance, even get a certificate, with the map of the field that was cleared subsequent to a precious stone acquisition. So, man-made diamonds can truly make our world a way better place. With a slight help from people, naturally.
