Alopecia Areata usually manifests itself without any kind of a warning. The problems can become apparent with missing hair showing in small patches. A few years ago when I had a beard, I noticed what at first was a small patch which gradually expanded over time. First of all I laughed, then I became irritated and finally I had to shave the beard off for embarrassment. This example, like many with this condition, is temporary and usually results in a full recovery of the affected area. if it doesn’t get better within a few months, it could signify that some permanent damage has happended.
